Clients looking to enroll in their dog's first obedience course will choose one the two services in this category. Each week of the course, dog & handler will attend an hour long class. The $180 fee is paid upon arrival on the first week of the course. Note: The price is NOT $150 per week. The $180 fee pays for all six classes of the obedience course.
Pups between 8-16 weeks old are the only dogs eligible for Puppy Class. Curriculum covers socialization skills, basic obedience commands, & age-specific issues.
Like people, dogs must learn & develop social skills. To develop appropriate social skills, pups need to interact with both "unfamiliar" dogs & people. A child who only interacts with those who live in their household will be socially awkward. Just as a pup who only interacts with dogs they live with will struggle socially.
Beginner Class is Dog Woods' most popular service. Dogs over 16 weeks old that need to learn good manners are eligible for Beginner Class.
Consider the difference between a dog that has vocabulary vs. a dog trained to follow commands even when distracted. A dog with vocabulary demonstrates their knowledge of a word when they feel like it. The trained dog listens to their owner even when distracted or "busy".
We will strive for the latter example.
The major difference in board & train vs. other services is your dog will be receiving one-on-one training from a professional trainer.
Dogs enrolled in Day Training are dropped off at Dog Woods in the morning and picked up that same day in the evening. Clients inform us of the issues their dog struggles with most. Dogs receive a minimum of 3 training sessions lasting an average of 45 minutes each. Training time will focus on issues the client tells us their dog struggles with most.
Clients boarding their dog at Dog Woods can be enrolled in training for however many days you desire. Essentially "boarding dogs" are handled as "Day Training" dogs on days enrolled in training.
Private Lesson with trainer included when 3 or more days of training are booked.
Notice: Dog Must Meet One of the Following Criteria for Boarding Eligibility
-Previously attended, or currently enrolled in D Woods training class.
-Previously attended Camp Program
The Camp Program is Dog Woods three week intensive board & train option. Half of the cost is paid on check-in day, while the other half is paid the day your dog goes home. Curriculum focuses on the basic obedience commands and manners all dogs need to be good house pets. Teaching the dog a huge list of words they will only listen to if you have a treat is of no real value to you. Some of the things your dog will learn include: Sit, stay, down, come, loose-leash walking, heeling, no jumping
